His comedy is clean, smart, and original with a flair for silly, and he has been described as having an “aw-shucks” demeanor that is playful and accessible to all.Known for his inventive writing and playful persona, Joe's jokes are first and foremost on himself, and he finds the absurdities and contradictions of everyday existence as well as touching on more creative topics from history, to pop-science, bird-watching, time travel, Bigfoot, The Universe, and monkey studies. Joe has built a following through hundreds of live appearances around the country as well as his comedy albums, podcast, writing, and multiple TV appearances. He has over 90,000 follows on Instagram and many millions of views on TikTok & YouTube.About JoeA native of Morgantown, West Virginia, Joe attended Davidson College in North Carolina where he graduated in 2005 with a writing degree and went on to begin his comedy career in the southeast as an original member of the Beards of Comedy, who toured from 2008 to 2012 and recorded two albums, one withComedy Central. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable show.” -Buzzfeed“In a sea of New York comedy, he has proven to be a refreshing voice of curiosity and interdisciplinary interests… all woven seamlessly into an intellectually stimulating stand-up set.” -Impose Magazine“His album, Smiling at Wolves, was one of my favorites of the year”. -Sean McCarthy | The Comic’s Comic“One of the best new comedians from the South”. – Paste Magazine“He said one word… just one word, and I started cracking up. Every part about him is funny.” -Brooke Gibson | Writer“Avoided many of the clichéd mannerisms and styles of the contemporary standup world without coming across arrogant, smug, or snarky.” -Charleston City Paper“More than 1,200 audience members could barely catch their breath between the twisted tales and zingers flying through the air.” -Hoopla“Without a doubt, Joe Zimmerman has one of the best comedy specials of this year (2023) with Cult Classic.” -The Comedy Bureau | Jake KroegerOther comedians on Joe“Obviously, Joe is very funny. But he is someone I can rely on. When he goes on stage, I have no worry that he is not going to crush it on stage. Joe has always been one of my favorite comedians.” -Nate Bargatze | in The Davidson Journal“One of my favorite comedians” -Brian Regan | Twitter“I would hook, line, and sinker steal this bit from a comedian named Joe Zimmerman …I’ve listened to it on YouTube like a hundred times. I have fantasies sometimes about doing it. I’ll be on the treadmill and I’ll be thinking about it being my joke. I wish it was mine so bad. I just love it. I was like, Oh, that’s so funny to take an audience through real facts about Andrew Jackson, who’s on no one’s mind, and then Joe Zimmerman brings him up and he tells you real things he did and has jokes off of them that are great, and it destroys. That is my absolute grand envy.” -John Mulaney | Vulture
